OK

So climate change denialists aren't the only stunningly stupid people out there. There are also those who read humour columns. I mean, not all of them, but some.

Check out my latest, here. It's not the worst example of the "I don't get it, and I shall now prove it beyond doubt" genre, but there are a couple of prize pigs in there.

"mocking of women taking non-traditional roles". Sigh. Yes, yes, of course.

I hate to be the one to suggest this, but has it occurred to you that Australians are just not ready for satire? Or sarcasm, or irony, or humorous asides in an otherwise serious essay? I sometimes wonder if a country needs a thousand years before it can deal with the proposition that sometimes words have meanings other than the surface ones. So that just leaves 800, give or take a decade or two. But meanwhile, on the Watermelon Blog (which is not, and this seems to be a constant surprise to many visitors, actually about watermelons) http://www.blognow.com.au/mrpickwick/, I just keep things really simple and straightforward. When I use a word it means just what I want it to mean, nothing else.

Nah, I think it's just that the dumb ones are always the loudest.

I guess coz when you get it and enjoy it, you nod and say 'Good one' to yourself. If you're outraged, you must comment loudly and at length!!
